La Vieja Puna

Puna past away a few years back. My mother really enjoyed her company, she had a great spirit. She lived in the little town of La Cienaga and was one of those characters who really personified the spirit of the town. She worked until the day she died, 104 years old, cooking, cleaning and washing clothes for other people. She was able to raise a family of five all by herself. She gained respect from all who knew her for her charisma and the pride she took in her family and her labor. I took a series of photographs of her before she was passed. This is an oil color sketch I worked on last year. One day I'd like to do a series of Puna paintings as a tribute to her.
